Miami Valley Archives Roundtable meetings are informal get-togethers of archives professionals who live and work anywhere in the Miami Valley (basically Dayton, Ohio, and surrounding counties). Any archives professional in the area is welcome. There are no dues, no official memberships. The closest thing we have to an official “membership list” is the email list, which is maintained by the roundtable organizer. Meetings are held on the third Thursday of February, May, August, and November, each year, and usually involve a tour of the host’s archives facility, a round-robin of what each person (or their organization) has been up to, discussion of upcoming conferences and relevant events, and then lunch.
The next meeting of the Miami Valley Archives Roundtable (or “MVAR”) is tomorrow, Thursday, February 17. If you want to attend tomorrow’s meeting or are interested in more information about the MVAR, please leave me a message, and I will put you in touch with the person in charge of the email list.
I have often wished that we had some kind of web site for MVAR, but I guess it would be a little difficult to define the parameters of such a thing, since MVAR is not a formal organization.
